Stunning design of a dark red rose, buds and leaves forming a garland on the cup interior and the outer saucer rim. This is the famous JOHNSON ROSE. The cup has 6 roses and the saucer 8.
Both pieces are in excellent undamaged condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, hairlines or restoration and pass the ping test of bone china perfectly. A couple of scratches to the rose transfer pattern on saucer and some very minor surface scratches to the burnished gold commensurate with age.
The white surface of the saucer also has a few faint scratches, likely from the cup base. Note that the cup has a bright gold trim whereas the saucer has a more burnished gold trim (achieved by a rough buff); this indicates that they were manufacturered at different times but still an exact match of the floral pattern. Cup measures 2 1/8" tall at sides and 2 1/4" to top of handle and is 5" across including handle; the saucer is 5 1/2" across. Marked as shown in photo with pattern A1452 handpainted in burned orange on the saucer base; the saucer and cup marks are different as noted above. This wonderful set would make a great addition to complete your Paragon teacup collection or a great gift. Please examine all photos to make your own determination of condition. Please remember that my items are vintage and not store-bought-new and some minor wear from age and use should be expected.
