PINK ROSES & HEAVY GOLD GILDING. This is a fancy set with heavy gold gilding similar in quality and style to Aynsley and Paragon.
Large dark pink roses in full bloom with green leaves. The burnished gold gilding has a wonderful patina.
Virtually mint condition with no chips, cracks, hairlines, staining, other damage or restoration on either piece - they both pass the ping test perfectly. No wear to the floral pattern on cup interior or saucer exterior and only the usual fine surface scratches to the gold. Cup measures 2 7/8" tall at sides and is 4 3/8" across including handle; saucer is 5 1/2 across. Marked as shown in photo with Tuscan shield and wreath mark with pattern number C8444 handpainted in gold on the saucer base.
Note that the previous owner has written Bill June 12, 1956 in black (covered by tape) which possibly suggests the date of a gift of this cup and saucer set. Please ignore all white spots on all photos caused by camera flash. This lovely set would make a great addition to your collection or a lovely gift.
