This listing is for the two handled vase that you see in the photos. Much of the gold covered decoration is relatively heavy so that the little beads and many of lines are a little raised. It looks to me like the gold color has been applied over porcelain that is raised to form beads and decoration. It measures close to a little above 8 1/2 inches high.
It weighs close to 1 pound 5.4 ounces. It has a Nippon maple leaf Hand Painted backstamp on the bottom. I have read that the maple leaf mark was used from 1891 to 1911. The "Hand Painted" measures close to ¼ inches high. The condition is much like you see it in the 21 photos after the general description.
Close-ups show how there are three tiny spots at the end of the fern like decoration on a less decorated side where the circular raised decoration is missing. I think maybe those areas popped off when it was fired. I see a little section of missing raised line of decoration in that general area.
There is some missing gold in various areas on the decoration and just inside the opening at the top. I think that some of it may have been made that way. I found one extremely light and faint and short scratch by inspecting the vase under a bright light.
One tiny bead around some roses is missing. I think that is a factory flaw. Some of the cobalt background is lighter in color than the rest of the vase.
The vase might benefit from a little cleaning. Otherwise, it is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips or other scratches. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. I guarantee this vase to be as described and represented by the photos. The photos are part of the description.
Please look at all of them. Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs "close to" because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure. Often, I have a custom made box for larger items and that can result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I recycle used boxes. 21 photos should load with this listing. This item is in the category "Pottery & Glass\Decorative Pottery & Glassware\Vases".
